Gestalt represents the Artist birthing into her legacy and becoming a visual artist: many influences becoming one, ergo Gestalt.
The dominant influence of design and color on the Artist originated from the Washington Color Field School of Abstract expressionist painters started by a core of 6 white male artists. This further includes Sam Gilliam and Alma Thomas as black color field painters. The school used a form of non-objective or non-representational art that explored ways to use large solid areas of paint on canvas.
Will you accept capturing shape, form & color as valid expressions of art, as much as you might accept the traditional realistic rendering of art?
