Meet Our Founders
Carlos and Mariela Solano established Stamford Modern in 2011 to elevate rare vintage designs with modern finishes. Carlos previously spent a decade working in the furniture industry – first for a high-end retailer in NYC and then for an antiques dealer. Mariela saw potential in merging the two industries and created the Stamford Modern concept.
Today, Mariela uses her master’s degree in accounting to manage all of the financials. Carlos is our resident furniture designer and visionary. He leads the entire process of sourcing, purchasing, and restoring every item in our showroom.

We bring fine 20th century furnishings up to date with impeccable restoration, luxury upholstery, and modern finishes that effortlessly fit in today’s interiors.
We give new life to Gio Ponti’s precise Italian design, Vladimir Kagan’s curving creativity, Paul McCobb’s thoughtful angles, and dozens of other leading vintage and contemporary designers. At Stamford Modern, we have a deep appreciation for original mid-century design and want to preserve its timeless character for another century.
Our expansive showroom is located in the heart of Stamford, Connecticut’s antique district with more than 150 ready-to-ship items. Surrounded by original hardwood floors, exposed brick, and ample natural light, we curate a wide variety of highly sought after, fully restored vintage pieces.
